Who Should Take a Fire Damper Testing and Inspection Course?
A Fire Damper Testing Course is ideal for individuals looking to enter the field, HVAC technicians, facility maintenance personnel and those responsible for maintaining health and safety, fire safety inspectors, professionals looking to expand their skill set, and anyone with an active interest in health and safety.
Practical Training
Fire damper testing is delivered across a wide range of manufacturers’ dampers in our training centre, and it is installed on different types of walls and floors. Damper types include both mechanical and motorised fire dampers. Our training centre has been designed to provide test scenarios that are realistic and prepare candidates for real-world working conditions. Our expert tutors understand how to guide both new learners and experienced engineers to test safely in accordance with legislation and industry guidance. Practical training will cover the installation of access panels, installation of removable duct sections, fire damper function testing, fire damper report production, and fire damper cleaning. All candidates will create their own fire damper inspection report to take home in their learner packs.
Theoretical Training
Legislation and industry guidance are covered in detail during the Fire Damper Testing Course. This ensures candidates understand the principles and reasons for testing. This will include knowledge of statutory requirements and EN1366-2, BS9999:2017, BESA DW145, the RRFSO and BESA DW144. Understanding building plan drawings and damper manufacturer installation drawings is a key skill for testing engineers. It’s also essential for salespeople to price damper testing; this is covered within the training. Reporting procedures and expectations are clearly laid out in the training presentation and learner packs. These skills are assessed using a multiple-choice question paper and technical drawing assessment.
Resources
Each candidate will receive a detailed learner pack containing key information relating to fire damper testing and identifying fusible links. Learner packs provide useful links to additional websites for future reference. On successful completion of both practical and theoretical elements, candidates will receive a certificate from Hasman that is valid for 5 years.
